Can my employer terminate my fixed-term employment contract early?
3 minuten mr. Jeroen Kaspers Employment Law for Employees Saturday 13 February 2021 2025
A fixed-term employment contract is concluded for a predetermined period. Usually, an exact end date is agreed upon. Your employer may only terminate your contract early if this is stipulated in a clause in the employment contract (the early termination clause). If this is not included in the employment contract, it is not possible.
However, even if it is included in the employment contract, this does not mean that the contract can simply be terminated. The employer must still comply with all dismissal regulations during an early termination. Therefore, you should always have any proposal thoroughly reviewed by an employment law specialist.
